The Watermans event on Hounslow high street was a joy. The official turnout was over 8,000. Thank you for the dropped jaws. I’m gratified to have hoisted you from your daily routines, and distracted you from your shopping.

This coming Saturday 24^th July I will be painting the public on Hounslow High Street in London across two giant surfaces for four hours from 12-4pm. There will be, of course, be loud sweet music (punk, ska, reggae, electro, trash, rock n roll – the good stuff). I want to push together action painting and figurative drawing for this event, and in doing so ask new questions and open doors for both outlets.

Here is the full length documentary on the Tate Britain event I painted at last year, by the very cool cats at Chocolate Films. Highlights from my piece and interview are roughly 3 minutes in. The original tracks from the work (Beethoven and The Ramones) could not be used here for copyright reasons, but I’ll post up a full video with original tracks and timing on my new YouTube channel as soon as I get the chance. Mayday!

In my resent subscribers newsletter I advertised my appearance for the ‘oro de ojo’ event at corsica studios, as previewed by the Gaurdian. There has been a major unforeseen error by the organisers of tonight’s event and because of the extremely short notice of the inevitable compromises, I’ve decided it’s impossible to deliver the pre-planned performance. These are unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. I may be working with them in the future and will of course keep you updated. If any of you bought tickets and no longer want to go / have trouble getting a refund, I will exchange your ticket for a painting. Apologies culture vultures. It happens.

On a happier note…

I’ll be playing around at the experimental afternoon of performance art, “FOUR”, curated by contemporary godfather of said art form, Richard Layzell. January 26^th, 1.30pm, the Gallery/Theatre at Wimbledon CA, Merton Hall Road, London.

This may be the last chance to catch me at a public event in London for a little while; I have a lot of preparing to do because as of March this year I will be based in Berlin for six months to complete a residency/period of intensive study at the Universität der Künste (UdK) Berlin. My blog will be particularly active during this time, with glorious tecnicolour photographs and paintings. I’ll be flying back occasionally to leave paint-stained trails across London though – there are a few top (…top, top) secret projects in the pipeline, and at least one goodbye before I leave. I’m also currently working on an exciting international curation project with the Tate Britain, more on this to follow.

Later will be my solo show at the We Are Arts Gallery on Southampton Row, central London – near the British Museum – as soon as I get back from the post in Berlin, so back to grindstone (…paintbrush).

I am installing a growing, evolving painting in the main exhibition space which will change and leak over the canvas on to the walls over a 5 day period.

Private view Wednesday 30th September 7.30pm + Live Action Painting and slam poetry in the basement, then a party yes. Live music from Kite Season. All free, all welcome – wham! You’re there.

Live Action Painting at the Tate Britain

The Loud Tate event has been launched on bookface; the line up is superbbb. I’ve actually now been asked to perform twice, because I am a limitless jet engine of energy-magic. TAKE NOTE THOUGH YOUNG’UNS, both will be very different…I have some top secret surprises in store for your culture starved eyeballs. I am gonna be on the Manton Lawn, which is on the left hand side of the big main entrance as you approach it. Part one is at 2:45pm, part two at 4:15 . The times will be printed on the leaflets which you will get on the day so double check they haven’t changed. I am preparing myself by drinking lots of chocolate milk and listening to lots of punk.

Latitude festival, website trauma, Tate.

Been extremely busy working in collaboration with outdoor play company ‘Hide & seek’ at Latitude festival in Suffolk. Thank you to every inspiring artist I absorbed there (Peter Blake, Laura Dockrill, Peggy Sue, Chrissie Hynde – take a bow).

In other news, I’ve been booked to perform my Live Action Painting at the Tate Britain’s ‘Loud Tate‘, which is a truly spectacular event. Details to follow.

Building websites is not my calling in life…In the meantime I have set up a Myspace page to keep everyone updated on my forthcoming performances and events. It’s very pretty; www.myspace.com/HepworthArtSlave. Not long now until the launch of the .com, so keep watching this space…my other space.
